The holidays are around the corner. As this year comes to a close, we fervently hope that 2022 brings new beginnings, the end of Covid and a return to normalcy. May your Thanksgiving be bountiful. Sending love and gratitude to all who shared my world in 2021, and to all whom I am yet to meet. Life is an adventure!

I’ve known a few turkeys in my life. (Haven’t we all?) They don’t all go “Gobble, Gobble”. Some never make it to the table. That’s just as well because they add nothing to our lives. It’s the well-bred variety that do make it that I am grateful for. Their very presence enhances my life, brings me joy and warms my heart.

Last night I had dinner with four friends. Each one of us can find a reason not to be grateful. Yet, you’ll never hear a single complaint, negative comment or see self-pity. Instead, there is only gratitude for our friendship and the way we support each other. Life does not always turn out the way we plan. Still, the choice is ours—lemons or lemonade. We all choose lemonade.

I wish everyone I love could join me for Thanksgiving. Some, long gone, I can only remember in my heart; for others, distance makes it impossible to be together. Even locally, with expanded families, we can’t see everyone we love for every holiday. I take note of every one of them. And, I am full of gratitude for the loved ones with whom I will celebrate. Thank you for being in my life!

Switching Gears

Recently, my Women Rising small group coaching program completed a Strategic Thinking Assessment (Andrew Atkins and Jay Cone). Did you know that there are many skills inherent in the thinking process? In this particular Assessment, you discover your strengths, or uncover weakness, in six areas:

  • Scanning
  • Patterning
  • Building Theories
  • Re-Framing
  • Envisioning
  • Investigating

Why is this important? All our lives are filled with unexpected shifts—challenges if you will—that require resilience, perseverance and purpose to get us through. Sometimes we don’t know where to start. As we look ahead to 2022, it is a time to ask, “Where are we? Where do we want to go? How do we get there?”

The process of strategic thinking provides a framework to gently nudge us forward, making progress as we go through the steps. This is important in your personal life as well as your business. If we aren’t moving forward, we are going backwards. Check out Jay Cone, partner of Unstuck Minds on LinkedIn, to order his books and learn more.

Another assessment, the FourSightThinkingProfile narrows the process down to 4 steps: IDEATE, CLARIFY, DEVELOP, IMPLEMENT. This works especially well when you are seeking creative solutions to innovate breakthrough thinking.

Are you ready to apply Strategic Thinking to your business?

My goal is to help you think strategically to embrace your creativity, use all of your thinking skills and find the solutions that will carry you forward.
